PAPILLON PEARL LABS
provenance intelligence

Some things are worth knowing exactly.

Where a piece was made. Who made it. Whose hands it passed through before it reached yours. These are old questions — as old as the objects themselves. What's new is what we can do with them.

Papillon Pearl Labs sits at the convergence of the ancient and the cutting edge — where the discipline of historical research meets the rigor of artificial intelligence, and where the story of an object is treated with the same seriousness as any other form of evidence.

This is a research practice. Not a brokerage. Not an auction house. Not an authentication service. Research first. Everything else follows from that.

The convergence of the ancient and the cutting edge.

Research, then service. In that order.

The Library is the foundation. Every consultation engagement applies methodology developed openly in the published corpus, with attribution confidence stated in plain terms — Tier 1 documented, Tier 2 attributed, Tier 3 speculative.

The separation matters. Research is the public record. Consultation is its application. Both are anchored to the same evidentiary standards — the same Four-Field Audit, the same T1/T2/T3 confidence framework, the same discipline of naming what is known and what isn't.

A Note on the Practice
This is not a brokerage, an auction house, or an authentication service.
Papillon Pearl Labs is a research practice. We publish what we learn, and we consult on application of the methodology. We do not sell pieces, we do not certify, and we do not appraise for insurance. For institutional engagements that require formal certification, see the methodology page for our scope of work.
